SHONSL, the Boston based producer/DJ/engineer/b-boy linked up again with the talented West Coast singer/songwriter Beka for their new addicting house single “Right With You” just in time for the summer weather. The track was inspired by both artists’ 90s roots and upbringing. The influence permeates throughout SHONSL’s MK-esque chords and Beka’s passionate lyrics, reminiscent of her childhood idols Aaron Carter & The Spice Girls. The upbeat energy incites the urge to dance and reminds you of pre-COVID19 rooftop day parties with friends. Head bobbing vocal chops & bright piano strings paired with Beka’s timeless songwriting and angelic voice make this an instant summer anthem.
ANZA is an East Bay native who currently lives in Oakland CA and incorporates multi-instrumentalism into both his studio production and live shows. He strives to blend organic textures into an electronic foundation.
With his first single since the fall of 2018, ANZA is exploring a new sound that combines elements of mid-tempo and deep house, while staying true to his instrumentals roots. “On To Me” features the angelic vocals of Beka, along with ANZA playing sax, trombone, and piano which he melds into the electronic soundscape creating a unique sound pallet reflecting the dreamy and idealistic lyrics, while retaining its dancefloor appeal. ANZA and Beka premiered this track on stage at the Plural Music stage at Oakland’s First Friday event in May 2019, and look forward to future collaborations down the road. Stockton, CA lyricist and Plural Music artist Carlos Bryant's new project Nobody Special is his latest argument to earn the spotlight in Stockton's booming musical movement. Choosing quality over quantity, Carlos utilizes just three tracks to take listeners on a journey through life in the San Joaquin Valley. While brief, the project exhibits depth in tackling issues ranging from opioid addiction, to pursuing personal ambitions vs. sustaining friendships.
The lead single "Friends" features fellow Stockton talent (and EMPIRE's newest signee) Don Quez. The song illustrates the dilemma every hustler faces at some point in their journey; continue grinding and getting closer to your goals, or continue hanging out with your less motivated friends who ain't on their game the same? Placed over a menacing OFASHO produced instrumental, Carlos and Don Quez's verses bring color into a bassy and dark beat with energy suitable for the club. Nobody Special follows Carlos Bryant's last single "Black Benz" with over 10K plays to date, it can be heard ringing throughout the streets of Stockton.
